Continuing my recap of 2022, this was February. I am hoping to get the rest of 2022 done in the next couple of weeks.
“Freeing yourself was one thing, claiming ownership of that freed self was another.” ― Beloved
In February I gave notice to my tenant to move out. It felt like freedom… momentarily. From the moment I gave notice to the moment he actually left it took several painful months.
I almost got scammed by the car dealership when I went in for an oil change. That experience taught me not to go to car dealerships for regular oil changes.
“Potential has a shelf life.” ― Cat’s Eye
I went on a coffee date, looking more for a potential skiing partner than a romantic one. One week later the date and I went skiing at Hunter Mountain. We had a great time. I thought we would remain in touch, but we didn’t. We exchanged a few messages but then I just let it go.
“Don’t take anything Personally Nothing others do is because of you. What others say and do is a projection of their own reality, their own dream. When you are immune to the opinions and actions of others, you won’t be the victim of needless suffering” ―
A lady at the mosaic studio was offended when I mentioned I was naming one of my mosaic pieces after her friend. She felt her friend would be upset. I learned how some people can be so sensitive, even if it is for something that has nothing to do with them. I was upset for a moment and then realized it was not really about me. It was about this person’s own issues. She had been going through some grief. I just let it go.
“Conduct yourself in a manner that is worthy of respect and don’t worry about what others think.” ― Men of the Code: Living as a Superior Man
The war in Ukraine started. The world feels even more fragile, uncertain and scary. Now, almost a year later it seems the world just got used to it. How crazy is it that we can get used to everything in life, even a war? The sad reality is, unless it personally affect us, life goes on.
As I write this, I am reading about the ugly protests in Brazil yesterday. Actually that was not a protest. Protests are peaceful. That was an ugly, violent attack on our congressional buildings, on our symbols of justice and democracy. It was like watching the January 6 Capitol scenes all over again. I was very saddened but not surprised. Bolsonaro followed Trumps’s playbook to a T, and so did his followers. I was surprised that the authorities were not prepared for it.
I pray for Ukraine. I pray for Brazil. I pray for the world. I pray for peace and unity! May each person have more love in their heart for their fellow human being.
“The sadness of the world has different ways of getting to people, but it seems to succeed almost every time.” ― Journey to the End of the Night
No matter how high and mighty we may get, you hit the nail on the head by saying “The sad reality is, unless it personally affect us, life goes on.”.

It is sad, and yet still necessary. Life does go on. We just need to try to continue improving our lives and those around us. Let’s spread love and loving words!
Blessings to you Cassa!

Perhaps the same mechanisms were being played in Brazil during the elections there. I wonder if they had the same things happening there, like social media, security agencies like the FBI, and the media working against the opposition. Twitter files are so enlightening as to what really happened.

Hi Rob,
Politics, elections, etc. are a dirty business anywhere in the world. But to use violence and destruction of national patrimony and historical artifacts is not the answer. Strong arm tactics will never get my vote.
Speaking of vote, it has become impossible to choose who to vote for, here or in Brazil. Can we come up with better people?
Blessings to you!

True, but imagine a sport in which you could never win because penalties only applied to your team. That the referees came up with a game plan with your opposing team to beat you. That the sports show following the game repeated the narrative of the favored team. And finally, when you had a chance to voice your opinion of what happened, you were censored. This is what has happened since 2020 in the world, and this is the corruption that can cause these violent episodes, which are dangerous. I do agree, we need better choices than those offered in the past few election cycles.

It would be a game I wouldn’t want to play.
So many just assume that what they hear on their favorite show, or whatever their favorite politician is saying, it is the absolute truth. I disagree with the powerful inciting violence of the weak minded. I don’t have the answer but I know that inciting violence terrifies me and I don’t believe is the answer.
Better choices are needed, here, there and everywhere. We need a new wave of politicians.

Thank you for sharing!!.. we are all part of a whole and what will affect one part of the whole will eventually affect us in some manner…. life is an ongoing process of learning and adapting, we always have a choice and how we do so will determine what we will become and as Ms. Monroe said “sometimes good things fall apart so better things can fall together” (Marilyn Monroe).. hopefully with technology and knowledge we can better understand the world and work together to make it a better place… 🙂
Violence is an act of a desperate person/persons (usually with a closed mind), and only breeds more violence, hate, anger, rarely solves anything…. today’s technology gives us more options to help deal with the violence.. 🙂
Hope your life’s path is paved with peace, love and happiness and until we meet again..
May your day be touched
by a bit of Irish luck,
Brightened by a song
in your heart,
And warmed by the smiles
of people you love.
(Irish Saying)

Now looking forward to next month/installment with the hope that March was more positive than February. I don’t think I started following you till the second half of last year, so it should all be new(s) to me.
