I looked for scone recipes online, and chose one that looked easy and fast.
They didn’t come out great, but still we ate them all.

Irish Soda Bread – this is another favorite of mine, that I cannot find to buy anywhere around here. Perhaps on Saint Patrick’s Day I will find some bakery that makes them.
It came out okay, not great. I definitely need to tweak the recipe I found online.
Anything toasted with butter is great, and that is how I eventually ate it all.
Can you believe that I got brownies wrong? Brownies is the one thing I don’t mind making it from a box. I accidently put the oven too high and the sides and bottom got overbaked.
I cut off the offending parts and the rest was eaten anyway 🙂
I will be trying all of the above again. If you a good recipe for scones or soda bread, please send it my way.
Thank you and have a blessed weekend!

I love this — there’s such a cozy, down-to-earth charm in the way you describe your baking adventures. Even if the scones and soda bread weren’t perfect, the joy of trying, tasting, and toasting everything with butter absolutely shines through. Your enthusiasm makes the whole experience feel warm, real, and wonderfully relatable.

My scones are never looking like those you buy but it’s the taste that counts. I bake a couple of batches and then freeze , so I’m sure I have them for for those days when the urge to have my butter with something is irresistible 😂

Hi Ortensia,
There is nothing better than warm scone with butter. This time I didn’t get to freeze them. They were all eaten in a few days.
do you have a favorite recipe?
Blessings!

I have three actually . One fur apple scones, one fur plane and one with cream that makes them a yummy cross between shortbread and scones, those normally do not make it to the freezer either😂

You might like to try this English recipe – I’m not sure whether American scones are the same as English ones? https://www.nancybirtwhistle.co.uk/blogs/recipes/cherry-bakewell-scones-with-clotted-cream/

Hi Catherine,
Thank you for the recipe. I am going to try it and will report back.
I assume our scones are not exactly like the British scones, as we don’t have clotted cream.
When I attempt this recipe I will try some substitute for the clotted cream.
Wishing you a blessed weekend!

Hi Mia,
Thank you for those recipes!
I am definitely going to try them. My scones and soda bread were a different recipe using buttermilk. I can’t wait to try these.
I am not familiar with Amish bread and cakes. i am going to look those up.

Everything looks great… I would have no problem with eating any of those lol…
I went to a bakery awhile ago to get scones and two people there at different times told me the secret to getting scones is to come in very early like as soon as they are opening the door… Because they sell out that fast !!!… They also told me to call and place an order so they can hold them till you get there… Maybe this will help?? I hope it does and you get some … I love soda bread too and brownies and well anything bread and anything butter 🧈..
Hope it helps let me know…

Hi Suzette,
thank you for the tips!
Unfortunately all the places around here don’t make them at all.
To get my favorite baguettes from the French bakery, I do have to make sure that I am there early, otherwise there are any left. 🙂
Wishing you a blessed week!

Butter (and bacon) makes everything better! And a little chard parts makes brownies delicious too! 😋

oh yeah, let’s not forget bacon!
I will also add condensed milk – we use it on a lot of our Brazilian desserts. It does make everything better.
