My love affair with my bread machine and making breads and cakes continues.
I have been making mostly whole wheat breads. The one with honey and molasses is my favorite.
I made the above white loaf on the bread machine. The Irish soda bread I made in the oven, as it doesn’t involve any kneading or rising.
They both came out great. The white bread is simple and great for sandwiches.
The soda bread came out great, but still I think I will add some more sweetness to the it.
There is a soda bread that I love, from a bakery that is over 1 hour away from my home. So I am not able to buy it as often as I would like. I search for that taste. It is probably not the original soda bread, but I want to get as close to that taste as I can.
The above is a pound cake I made in the bread machine. Even though it doesn’t look all that, it is delicious. Because I cannot follow any recipe and I always have to add my own twist, I added a couple of drops of vanilla extract and a couple of teaspoons of chocolate. That is why it came out with that color.
I plan on doing this same recipe again and probably adding a drop of coconut or almond extract, or more chocolate.
Tomorrow I plan on making a chocolate cake and frosting, not in the bread machine. Stay tuned for the pictures.

So glad you’re enjoying your bread maker. The bread looks delicious!

The bread machine made me want to bake again, so now I am using the machine and also doing recipes without the machine and using the oven.
I am becoming addicted lol
Blessings to you!

That’s wonderful! It makes for a nice combination! When I was in my 20’s I went through two machines. My boys loved the bread, cinnamon rolls, pizza dough,…and their dad wanted homemade bread all the time! lol I’ll be 54 this July and I’m thinking of a new bread machine for my birthday! Yay! 💛 many blessings to you and yours!

HI Renard,
I actually joked about that, just now. I am thinking about mastering one quality of bread or pastry and just sell that… who knows.

This time I only added raisins, but I plan on adding different fruits in the future. I am not sure about the nuts.

Or you could add banana or chocolate chips? 🤗

Chocolate chips – great idea! or even coconut chips. I eat bananas and banana bread, but they are not my favorite flavor.

It was yummy, but I still think the soda bread needs some fine tuning. It was the right look, but I think it needed to be a tad sweeter.

Those loaves look amazing! I would love to taste that honey and molasses loaf… but after our 34 days visiting family and friends in CA and eating out a lot, I need to take off those 5 pounds I gained. Don’t think your breads would help me do that. What do you think?

I’ve never heard of soda bread before! Looks like a giant biscuit? The pound cake looks and sounds delicious based on the ingredients you used!

I had never heard of it, until a co-worker gave me one from a bakery near his home in upstate NY. I became hooked. It is like a giant scone. By the way, that is the next thing I want to try.

I’ve always thought of soda bread as dry, am I wrong? Maybe your added ingredients made it more moist. Looks like you’re having a lot of fun in the kitchen 🙂

It is on the drier side, and I like that about it. It is has been a lot fun for sure to experiment with different breads for sure! 🙂
I need to double up on those bicycle rides!!
