“No man needs a vacation so much as the man who has just had one.” ―
I arrived from Brazil on Saturday. M went straight to Florida. We were together 24/7, and just got along beautifully. We miss each other. He will be coming to NY on July 4th. I am swamped at work, specially at the end of the month. My assistant is still out. So he is giving me space to catch up with work.
He is the one! Yes, I am announcing it to whoever care to listen! I am being extremely bold when I say this is forever. It feels like forever. I am going to enjoy this “forever” for as long as it lasts.
My family, like the majority of Brazilians, are very welcoming. Everyone embraced him right away. It helps that he is an extremely loveable creature. He is kind and unassuming, always trying to help others. I love his generous heart! My family truly loved him and welcomed him as part of the family.
I had warned him that this would be a work trip. At times he hinted at wanting to go surfing, etc, but there was no way I could make that work this time. The beach he wants to go to is very far from my town. He is now floating the idea of renting a house there for a month this summer. At this point, I feel I am tied to NY, at least for the next few months. But I am remaining open minded.
As I mentioned prior, while in Brazil, we painted, cleaned, shopped, did Pilates, spent time with friends and ate. I ate like the world was coming to an end. Unfortunately, I have several extra pounds to show for it.
M is vegetarian and stays away from sugar and carbs. That is, until he met me. He is not fanatical about his diet, so in Brazil, to be polite, he indulged. He probably ate more sugar and carbs in 3 weeks than he did his whole life prior.
I normally don’t overindulge in Brazil, but with the excuse of having him try different treats, I did. I figure that in future trips we will tone it down. There were 3 meals that we did as a family. Breakfast, lunch and afternoon coffee. Dinner was just a snack, unless we were meeting friends out. Those times around the table with my family and friends (there are always a friend or two stopping by) are precious.
We had dinner out with friends 4 times. We had so much yummy food. I will be posting about them in following posts. The food in Brazil is unbelievable! Well, I am biased.
We also managed to take a couple of day trips to the town where my sister used to reside and still has an apartment – Poços de Caldas, in the state of Minas Gerais. We took the cable car to Cristo Redentor (Christ, The Redeemer). Every town in Brazil has the statue of Christ. The most famous one is in Rio de Janeiro.
Unfortunately, the day that we were visiting it, it was a foggy day. They are renovating the area, and there are ziplines, bars and other attractions, but on this foggy day nothing could be seen.
We also took a couple of day trips to the countryside, including to the Pico do Gaviāo (Hawk’s Peak)– It is a mountainous area famous for paragliding. Gorgeous!
I will write more about our trip to Brazil as time permits. In the end, M loved Brazil and Brazil loved M. If anything, this trip made us see that we do belong together. 😊

Well heartiest congratulations on finding your Guy, your One! You have had a long journey and you must be wondering of him “what took you so long to get here?”. But never mind, the key is that you seem to click, and as you are both older the connections for compatability, conversation and shared interests are more important than physical ones (which change over time). I am very happy for you. You have much to offer and it is good for him to see that. It is also really good that you don’t have nagging questions, problems or questions at this stage. It feels right. Excellent and as it should be. Wishing you continued happiness.

Thank you so much Robbie, for the great comment and well wishes!
It has been a real long journey, and when I think it is too good to be true, I remind myself of how long I have been searching. Great things come to those who wait, don’t settle, and keep working towards what they want.
It is surprising to me that I have zero doubts or questions. And he feels the same way. I plan to enjoy it, and continue working on making this a great life together!
Thank you for saying that I have a lot to offer 🙂
Sending you blessings for an awesome weekend!

He is just so kind, I can’t imagine anyone having a problem with him.
Brazil is great, so many places to visit – I have not traveled enough in Brazil, but I plan on changing that. I can certainly make suggestions.
When I retire and have more time to spend there, perhaps you can be my guest in Brazil, and go totally off the beaten path 🙂
Happy searching, don’t give up! Blessings to you!

I “liked” this post as soon as I read the lead quote, Ana. I think just about all of us would agree. What a wonderful update about your “significant other”. Meeting the family is the ultimate test of a relationship. Sounds like he passed with flying colors (that is, green, yellow, and blue!)

I can feel your joy for M radiate through your words. This is wonderful. It’s a sign when he can let his diet go and indulge together with you on those sugary treats. And how wonderful he got to explore Brazil with you.
I spent a few days in Rio in 2015 and I loved the experience so much.

Sounds like a fantastic trip, Ana. It’ll be interesting how much, if any, he changes his diet now. Was this a one-off, or have you gotten him interested in the sweeter side? I hope you can get away to go back this summer. – Marty

Hi Marty,
It was a tiring, but great, trip indeed!
He is very disciplined, so he is back eating no sweets. Well, at least while he is back in Florida. We will see what happens when he comes to NY.
I am hoping to have many getaways in the future.
Thank you and blessings to you!

Thank you for sharing your wonderful adventure!!.. no doubt life will put some challenges in your path from time to time so continue to allow your relationship grow at its own pace, don’t put too much pressure on the both of you.. “True love doesn’t happen right away; it’s an ever-growing process. It develops after you’ve gone through many ups and downs, when you’ve suffered together, cried together, laughed together, loved together.” (Ricardo Montalban)… 🙂
Hope your path is paved with love and happiness and until we meet again..
May love and laughter light your days,
and warm your heart and home.
May good and faithful friends be yours,
wherever you may roam.
May peace and plenty bless your world
with joy that long endures.
May all life’s passing seasons
bring the best to you and yours!
