“Dogs are our link to paradise. They don’t know evil or jealousy or discontent. To sit with a dog on a hillside on a glorious afternoon is to be back in Eden, where doing nothing was not boring–it was peace.” ― Milan Kundera

I made a mosaic as a gift for my mom, this one here: https://atomic-temporary-33385295.wpcomstaging.com/2020/12/09/of-saints-and-mothers/

I decided to also make one for my dad so he wouldn’t feel left out.  I chose to make Pamela.  Pamela was a poodle that my parents had for 17 years.  She died about 10 years ago, and to this day they still miss her and talk about her.

“Until one has loved an animal, a part of one’s soul remains unawakened.” ― Anatole France

Pamela was originally my sister’s dog, but later she grew to hate my sister.  My sister tried to discipline her and she didn’t like that.  I also think that she saw my sister as competition for my parent’s attention.

She was one of a kind.  She believed she was a person.  My parents treated her like a baby.  She was bossy and spoiled.  She always wanted to be patted, but would turn around and bite when she got tired of that.  She was extremely jealous of my parents.

She died of old age. But to this day, my parents swear, they still can hear Pamela’s paws around the house.
