About me

Update: Still single, still here. Loving life and feeling grateful. 53 years old, but feel like I am 25.  Still writing about dating and other details about my life and my surroundings.  Welcome, browse around, stay awhile and share your thoughts! Blessings to you on your journey! 🙂 ♥♥♥

****

I am a newly single, never married, 46 year woman, no kids, no pets, free as a bird. I am eager to live a full life.  I am trying to rebuild life after a breakup with someone that I thought was “The One”. Will take classes and chances, will take tumbles and get up, and register it all here for good or bad, but always for a good laugh!!

Break ups, separations, divorces are not easy! All of a sudden you lose companionship, loved ones, friends, pets, houses, security and most of all you lose your sense of self.

Life as you knew it is is over!  Now what?

The worst the pain and hardship the better the opportunity. This is great opportunity for learning and self discovery.  You have a chance to reinvent yourself and start over again. The same goes for job loss, illness and any other difficulty or tragedy in life.

So I plan to learn the most that I can. I plan on seizing the moment and grab opportunity by the hair and not let it go.

In March 2012 I start writing because I needed to get thoughts out of my head.

Now after a couple of months I continue to write because to me is like breathing, something I need to survive.

I write to hopefully inspire, but above all to be inspired!!

Please share with me your thoughts, about anything. We never know where it will lead.

Please read my other blog: http://listuniverse.wordpress.com/

And if you want to get in touch with me, please do so at: blessedwithastar@hotmail.com

… and I am proud to be American and Brazilian!!

  41. Maybe it’s not so much reinventing yourself as rediscovering your essence — or even self-discovery and renewal. It’s all too easy to lose yourself in another person or situation, and then feel lost when that’s gone.

At least that’s where I was when I began keeping a journal more than four decades ago while living Upstate, only to find along the way that we really are blessed with so much more than we typically acknowledge. You seem to be finding that, too, with Blessed With a Star. … Keep it up! There are more surprises than you’d ever anticipate.

As you’ve already seen, I’m also having a lot of fun revisiting some of my nuggets from across the years and posting them on my own blog, Jnana’s Red Barn. Even more delightful is the interaction now with others who recognize similar experiences in their own journeys. Seems there are kindred spirits everywhere.

    Now, where were we? Cheers!

The interaction with others has been amazing (I can already count some as good friends) and the majority positive, of course there will always be people that will have problems with what I write, as I just found out, but at any rate, I am writing from a place of honesty in my heart.
So, thank you so much for your comment and I plan on visiting your barn often. 🙂

Interestingly the tune on my album called Rosebud Blooming (you can hear it via my link on the post and visiting the album) is about a woman who has become separated and I tried to capture the melancholy and irony of it because really I believe she was then just starting to bloom. I also like the name of your blog. Did it have anything to do with this Cat Stevens song? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j8zoi9_NkY0

    • Thank you so much!
I like Cat Stevens, but had never heard that song before. It is great!
The name of my blog has to do with being told by a fortune teller when I was 17 that he was not going to even bother giving me a reading because I had a star on my forehead and therefore whatever I wanted was mine to receive.
Well it stuck with me and I go through life knowing that I am blessed and behaving as such. (Every single person on this earth is blessed, but most people just don’t acknowledge).
Thank you for the blessing and for the song!! 🙂

It is step by step, day by day that is for sure and you will be stronger for it. This I know from experience. Keep your head held high and your heart soft. I was told this by someone a long time ago. Don’t let your heart get bitter by this experience.

I hear you on that! Good for you! It took me some time to come around after my heartaches in the past. As I get older and go through life, I look back and realize they were all lessons that I had to learn whether I liked it or not. My old friend had a saying: People come into our lives for a reason, a season or a lifetime! I guess some were seasonal 🙂 You’re welcome my new friend and all the blessings right back at you!

    • Thank you! I am indeed blessed to know that I am imperfectly perfect and my life has meaning, like everyone else. But so many focus on the negative and the problems instead of being grateful for the infinite blessings we are given daily. Thank you and many blessings to you! 🙂

You mention “job loss” I joined wp when I was flushed out of the office by a Spanish loving Sicilian. Two years later, I end up in the same field; I see that field with a new set of glasses; redemption.
Your blog is lovely and I am thankful to have found you. One is a whole number btw. xo ~ wings

  211. Thank you so much for visiting my blog! Quite a few years ago, I got back into writing after a massive heartbreak that had more to do with letting myself be fooled than with the fool who fooled me. Writing is good for what ails you – whatever it is. I hope life is much happier for you these days. Take care!

  222. Hello there Star. Thank you for showing an interest in my blog. I’ve just read your post on attending the Ballet and your ambivalent attitude towards your current relationship. And I read your About Me section which was incredibly interesting. Brazilian American! I’m glad you’re blogging!

You’re quite honest and I believe you are one to truly “think” about your situation. You constantly see things from a distance. (things such as the man sitting across from you a.k.a. your date.) Your blunt honesty is a good thing because it is tempered with compassion, e.g. the man who sneezed. In short you appear to have the writer’s gift of observance and self-introspection.

I feel honored to make your acquaintance! 🙂

Nice to meet you. I am a little bit older than you and have reached that point in the road in my current relationship, where I know it is time to go. I am not getting any younger and I want to be free and happy. It sounds selfish, but you only get one chance at living, why be miserable. If it doesn’t fit or feel right , don’t try to make it, it wont work, at least it hasn’t for me. I don’t have anything to lose. The only thing that keeps me here is finances, but I am taking steps to move ahead.

    • Welcome aboard! I always appreciate the older and wiser! There are points in life that one has to be selfish to maintain their sanity and to feed their own soul. Thinking of others is good but it may get to the point when you have nothing to offer because you have depleted yourself for the sake of others. Each person is responsible for their own happiness. As they say on airplanes put your air mask first, only then you can help others. I am glad that you are taking steps to enable yourself to move on to a better situation. Sometimes it takes courage to say good bye, it is not giving up, it is realizing that it is not fixable. Best of luck to you! Blessings! 🙂

Thank you so much, your words are wise ones and very true. I have always had a problem with guilt and have over stayed, when I should have left much sooner.I always tried to make things work, even though I was not happy, I sacrificed years by being that way. It is hard to make that first move, especially when finances are involved.

        • I was lucky to have been in a good financial position at the time we broke up, but still I tried to hold on convince him to fix the relationship. How happy I am today that he never wanted to work on “us”. In hindsight perhaps I was not as happy as I thought I was.

  227. It is such a joy to “meet” you…I’m not sure how you found my blog, but thank you for “liking” so many of my posts! I’ve read and commented on a number of yours, and I’m privileged to “follow” you…you have the type of heart that I am drawn to…you are optimistic and genuine, brave and willing to “put yourself out there”…and, you inspire others to be the best versions of themselves–warts and all. That kind of freedom makes the sky the limit, and gives each of us the daring, and room, to soar. You are a light…thanks for sharing 🙂

    Happy Blogging!
