I was unsure what to do yesterday as far as my Pilates appointment. Do I go or do I cancel? It was snowing and I don’t have a 4×4, I have an old sports car that is not even good in the rain.
So I called a friend to ask his opinion and he didn’t answer so I took that as a sign that I should go. I knew that had I spoken to him he would tell me to stay at home.
I went to a town 20 miles away and had my 1 hour Pilates session. It felt good having my session but really it was terribly stupid and dangerous to venture out on a night like that. Driving back it was not fun, in fact it was scary! I saw many accidents and at one point had to gingerly navigate between car crashes on both side of the parkway as my car kept slipping and sliding. I never held the stirring so tight as I did last night.
I have learned my lesson! I am never doing that again! No more driving on snowy days! I am thankful I got home safe with no incidents or accidents.
Why do smart people make such dumb choices some times?

One of my favorites ex-co-workers stopped by today as a surprise! It was the highlight of my day. This guy is so much fun. We used to dance and sing and joke and I truly miss him. He has such a genuine good heart and great character.
Some people brighten your day just by showing up! 🙂

Even though my car is stable, I still don’t even like driving when it’s raining hard, let alone snowing. Glad you made it safely though!

well I am a dad to two girls, so I might have said that ( smile )
but chocolate is pretty good too!
few things are so satisfying as new tires or new windshield wipers.

You made it home and that’s a good thing. I would have had sore fingers from gripping the steering wheel too hard!!!
I don’t even like walking outside in that kind weather; it freaks me out. And sometimes ppl drive like its still summer! That freaks me out!!!

I made home safe thanks Heaven! But learned my lesson! I did hold the steering wheel like my life depended on it!!
and that is exactly my fear: the people that think that because they have a 4×4 they can drive like there is nothing going on!

Well, luckily I have a 4 x 4, so I can drive like a bat out of hell! hahahahaha I get to try the 4Runner on snow tomorrow. Hope it goes better than your experience! Glad you’re safe!

When I moved north after so many years in Florida, I traded the Miata in for a Nissan Frontier pick up truck. I feel so safe in the snow on the mountainous roads, but the image suffers:)

My car is definitely a summer sunshine day type of car. I don’t even care about the image, but I just don’t feel like making a car purchase at this point. I hate to drive and barely use a car! 🙂
Do you miss Florida?

I do miss it, but I’m adjusting because I’m realizing how important it is to have the drama of the seasons changing. I go back 2-3 times per year and my daughter still lives there and I still own a house there. We’ll go back when my hubby’s current job is finished in a few years. But I think we’ll both want to keep a foot in the north.

Like you, I love to see the seasons change! Great that you get to go back to visit your daughter and check on your house and take in some of the sun. I bet it will be a little hard to leave when the time comes!! Blessings! 🙂

If I were to stop driving in the snow. Well, that would make me house bound for 8 months of the year. One of those skills learned in order to live in a snowy northern clime. But I must say that I certainly do concur with bill. Wipers are wonderful.! In fact, I made my muse get new winter tires and I put new wipers on her vehicle.

I think the easiest way to explain how I feel is that smart people (myself included) make dumb choices (again, I am included) when they are:
Overstressed, very tired, and/or sick
Having been all three for years and years, I have a collection of stupid decisions.
